Release Day Blast: When the Leaves Stop Falling by Kelly Moran (+ Review)

One of my all-time favorite authors, Kelly Moran rereleased one of her backlist titles, When the Leaves Stop Falling, today and I'm so happy she did because this book is a phenomenal, emotional romance that I would not have discovered otherwise.

Ten years ago, Courtney Morgan had somehow found the courage to escape a life of abuse and run. Now living a comfortable--albeit lonely--existence, she's determined to make the most of her second chance. But when a newcomer strolls into the diner where she works, a series of events lands her on a road trip from Arizona to Georgia. After she learns her travel companion has been given a terminal diagnosis and is returning home, Courtney sees this as an opportunity to pay it forward and help, like someone had once done for her. Yet, despite her good intentions, it seems fate is determined to put love and friendship in her path, forcing her to evaluate her own future and what she desires most. Offering forgiveness is hard, especially when that person needing it most is herself. And she's discovering the important things in life are about the people along her journey, not the destination.

No one who knows her bats an eyelash when she talks to herself. Her interests include: sappy movies, MLB, NFL, driving others insane, and sleeping when she can. She is a closet caffeine junkie and chocoholic, but don't tell anyone. She resides in Wisconsin with her husband, three sons, and her black lab. Most of her family lives in the Carolinas, so she spends a lot of time there as well.

I received an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.

5 out of 5 stars

When the Leaves Stop Falling was a phenomenal romance following four friends on a beautiful yet heartbreaking journey and it really pains me to think that I might not have ever read it had Kelly not decided to re-release it. This book made me feel a whole spectrum of emotions and left me feeling emotionally raw but still happy at the end which was pretty impressive.

Pretty much everything about this book was great especially the characters. My heart broke for all of them because of all the things that they had to go through but they were incredibly strong and got through it despite it all. While I loved the book in its entirety, a part of me almost wishes that the ending of this book was a different, but despite the loss that these characters had to deal with, it was a very fitting end and concluded on a satisfying and uplifting note.

The only thing that kind of threw me off about this book was how Serena, Austin, and Jake quickly accepted Courtney's psychic ability so easily without much discussion. I kind of wish they were more reason shown for their actions especially since Courtney's gift is such a big part of the plot. But in the end that was a minor complaint and it didn't stop me from thoroughly enjoying this beautiful romance.
