Release Day Blast: The Drake House by Kelly Moran (+ Review)

The amazing Kelly Moran rereleased another gem from her backlist, The Drake House, today!

In her dreams, a ghost demands to be heard...

Trisha Eaton has been plagued by mysterious nightmares ever since her parents adopted her as a young girl. She chalked them up to childish nuisances until they return-- with a vengeance. Something about the Drake house next door to her family’s apple orchard haunts her. Now, her night terrors and sleepwalking seem to be luring her to something dark. When a series of strange events crops up, Trisha turns to Nick Mackey. As the new deputy in town, Nick just wants to put his traumatic past behind him. An undeniable attraction for Trisha has piqued interest and has him wondering if a shot at a normal life was possible. But Trisha has somehow struck a nerve, and a long-buried secret. A secret that someone they know will kill to keep veiled. Uncovered answers only seem to lead to more questions in a case where nothing makes sense.

One chilling fact remains... some nightmares are all too real.

I received an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.

4 out of 5 stars

I really enjoyed this book. The characters where interesting and relatable. Their backstories broke my heart a little but I liked that it wasn't anything too intense or too much that it ended up overshadowing the mystery of the Drake House which was the focus of the plot.

In regard to the the mystery surrounding the Drake House, I really enjoyed it. Everything that was happening on the orchard as a result of the the house next door was just the right amount of spookiness mixed with enough mystery to keep me on the edge of my seat especially towards the end.

The only thing that I disliked about this book and the reason why I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 was that the beginning kind of dragged for me, but once things started going and people started dropping like flies, Kelly managed to get my blood pumping and heart racing until the very end.

Overall, I really liked this book. It was a good suspenseful romance with some supernatural elements that was pretty much the perfect read for me this Halloween.
