ARC Review: Ruthless by Gina L. Maxwell

Synopsis:

He’s called Ruthless.

A sex god with tattoos, piercings, black hair styled to look like he just got laid, and completely off-limits. But I’m like the badass honey badger, and when I’m told I can’t have something I want, I go after it that much harder.

It wasn’t long before I had him pushing me up against the wall for a mutually agreed upon one-time thing. In an alley. Rough and wild. Best. Sex. Ever.

Now he’s my boss and—spoiler alert—and we can barely keep from tearing each other’s clothes off. But he’s determined it will never happen again, and it’s not only our work relationship that’s stopping him. He has a secret kink—one he’s sure I won’t want any part of—and he’s using it to push me away.

But I’m a honey badger, damn it, and I’m not about to give up on this without a fight. It’s time to go after what I want and show this man he’s not the only one who can be…ruthless.

MY REVIEW

I received an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.

5 out of 5 stars

So while I had enjoyed the first book in this series last year, I wasn't blown away by it, but that was not the case with this book. Ruthless, the second installment in Gina L. Maxwell's Playboys in Love series was pretty much a perfect sexy romance!

Addison, the heroine in this book was absolutely wonderful. She was headstrong and independent and the perfect match for Roman. And talking about Roman he was such an interesting hero. He had a lot of hang-ups when it came to relationships because of his sexual preferences, but all-in-all he was a good person so it was impossible to not like his character.

And talking about his sexual preferences they were the main source of tension and conflict in this book, but I feel the way they caused conflict in the story was a bit unnecessary. By the way that all the steamy scenes progressed it was pretty obvious that Addison was pretty much on board with what Roman was into when he was Ruthless, but still there was a lot of back and forth between them that could get a bit annoying. But that aside, I really enjoyed this romance. I loved the way that Addison persisted until Roman finally accepted that he could be with her and still be Ruthless.

Overall, this book was a fun and off the charts hot romantic read that I couldn't get enough of. And based on how much better this book was from the first book, I'm even more excited for book three because I'm pretty sure that book will be the death of me based on what we learn about a certain character in this book. But, yeah, I loved this book and I highly recommend this series as a whole!
