ARC Review: Her Fantasy Husband by Nina Croft

Title: Her Fantasy Husband

Author: Nina Croft

Synopsis:

She’s had the fantasy, now it’s time for the real thing…

Security Company CEO Josh Slater put his life on hold when he said “I do” to protect a stranger. While his marriage was never meant to be real—he hasn’t even seen his wife in five years—Josh can’t shake the idea that he’d be cheating if he moves on. Now he’s a man with a mission: chase down his “wife,” get an annulment, and finally indulge in a little no-strings sex.

Heiress Alexia Slater entered into a marriage of convenience straight out of high school to gain control of her inheritance before her not-so loving family squandered the whole thing. She doesn’t want the marriage to be real—she’s fought hard for her independence—but that hasn’t stopped her from spending the last five years fantasizing about her gorgeous husband.

Then he shows up.

Josh wants an annulment. Lexi needs to stay married. When the chemistry explodes between them, there’s no stopping the battle of wills only one of them can win…

***MY REVIEW***

I received an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.

5 out of 5 stars

This book was great on every level. I was pretty much 100% hooked on the story from the very first chapter. It is no secret that romances involving marriages and married couples are like my crack and while I've read several ones this year, Her Fantasy Husband is my favorite so far.

Everything about Josh and Alexia's relationship worked for me. While they only got married so that Lexi could get her inheritance and be somewhat free of her grandmother's control, the chemistry between the two of them is off the charts. And in regards to the chemistry between the two of them, it made me kind off upset that Josh was so intent on getting an annulment just so he could have no-strings sex when he could have just had no-strings sex with Lexi for the duration of their arrangement. But at the same time, Josh's insistence on getting the annulment before going off and having sex with other women kind of made him more endearing because he was so honorable in not wanting to cheat on his wife even though their marriage was one of convenience and they hadn't seen each other for 5 years. Josh was the most honorable idiot ever and getting to see him try to resist his attraction and then feelings for Lexi and failing was a real highlight for me.

But while the romance between Lexi and Josh was the highlight for me in this book as it should be, I also really enjoyed all the family drama. I usually really hate family drama in romance novels because it's always so annoying, but in this case I hated Lexi's grandmother and step-grandfather so much that I was really invested in seeing them fail especially now that Josh was hanging around putting them in their place and standing up for Lexi. If I hadn't already been a Josh fan before, just seeing him deal with Lexi's horrible grandmother would have made me immediately love him.

Overall, I really loved this book! It was so funny and sweet and steamy! Essentially, it was pretty much a perfect romance in my head and I'm really looking forward to reading more by this author.
